WNO Community Chorus: Celebrating 70 years of WNO

BBC Hoddinott Hall

Conductor Carlo Rizzi Performed by WNO Community Chorus, WNO Orchestra and Forget-me-Not Chorus

WNO’s roots lie in members of the community coming together, driven by their love of song. It’s therefore fitting that as they celebrate 70 years of the Company, the WNO Community Chorus was re-launched, giving over 100 amateur singers the opportunity to explore some of the greatest music in opera.

This special concert was the new ensemble’s first major performance, led by WNO’s Conductor Laureate, Carlo Rizzi, and joined by the WNO Orchestra and inspirational Forget-me-Not Chorus, a ground-breaking charity that allows people with dementia and their families to have a voice.

70 years of WNO was celebrated through a programme of music which has a special place in the hearts of both audiences and the Company itself, including pieces from WNO’s first ever performance, Cavalleria rusticana & Pagliacci, Carmen, Nabucco and more.
