Voice Programme

The voice programme is a vehicle to support youth and intergenerational groups unite through song and spoken word to have their voices heard. Festival of Voice and the Creative Learning Team at Wales Millennium Centre are working with four groups who support children and adults to benefit from the uplifting practice of singing. Each ensemble will have its own identity and own voice. The groups are:

Cardiff West Community High School

A new High School in the west of the city, in Ely, is running a project with year 7 pupils to promote creative learning. With a blend of emceeing and beatboxing, pupils will work with artists to develop, create and record their own song on the theme of ambition.

Oasis Cardiff

Oasis Cardiff is an organisation that aims to help Refugees and Asylum Seekers to integrate into their local community in Cardiff. This choir will bring together a plethora of cultures and the community of Splott to celebrate together through song.

Voices from Care

Voices from Care is a charity that supports, engages and promotes the rights of care experienced young people across Wales. This will be an intergenerational choir that brings together care experienced young people and those who support them, including support workers, foster families and care leavers alike.

Touch Trust

Touch Trust is a pioneering charity that offers unique creative movement programmes for people who are multiply and profoundly disabled. Working with a sound technician and Ysgol Hen Felin in Rhondda, they will create an ensemble made up from sound created by touch, and sound to explore expression through harnessing and exploring technology.

Keep an eye out for updates about the choirs and information on how you can experience them during the festival.
