Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares blend spine-tingling harmonies with heart-wrenching melodies to “plumb the depths of sadness and scale the heights of ecstasy” (The Guardian).

Created by the father of Bulgarian concert folk music, Philip Koutev, the group has garnered a host of international accolades since the release of Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares Vol.1 back in 1986, carving a distinctive voice within the rich heritage of Bulgarian folk music.

The songs themselves are ancient, mostly dating from the years of Turkish domination, but shaped and refined over the years by Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares directed by Dora Hristova.  This was their first visit to Wales in ten years, Dora and the group worked with Bulgaria’s leading composers to bring a spellbinding, unmissable experience to the festival.
