Ben Folds & yMusic + Lera Lynn

Donald Gordon Theatre

Singer-songwriter and pianist Ben Folds brought the classical and pop worlds together in his latest collaboration with celebrated New York City-based chamber ensemble, yMusic.

An influential voice in music since 1995, Folds first found mainstream success as the frontman of the critically acclaimed Ben Folds Five. He has since gone on to have a successful solo career, recording multiple studio albums and music for film and television. With new songs and arrangements of favourite hits, yMusic’s inventive instrumentation and virtuosic execution seamlessly weaves into Folds’ inimitable compositions to create an impressive display of captivating chamber-rock.

Opening the show, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Lera Lynn brought her post-Americana originality and intimate stage show to Festival of Voice. Lynn has received global media attention for her work with legendary producer T Bone Burnett, writing and recording music for the hit HBO series, True Detective, and also appeared as the recurring bar singer in the series. Her self-released album, The Avenues, received considerable praise and critical acclaim from the likes of American Songwriter, Rolling Stone and Huffington Post, making numerous Best Albums of the Year lists in the process.
